Update 9 - Universal Credit and Pension Credit
There are usually a number of changes to the benefits from April every year. Most of these concern changes in benefit rates and the amounts claimants will be paid. There are continuing to be significant changes introduced in relation to how claims for Universal Credit impact on other benefit entitlements. One significant change will happen in May of this year (2019) where couples, where one partner is aged above Pension Credit age and the other is aged under Pension Credit age, will no longer be able to make a new claim for Pension Credit. Instead they will have to claim Universal Credit.
Please note that this only affects new claims for benefit. If you have any questions about how this might affect you, or any other benefit issue, please contact the Breathe Service on 0121 384 2333, or via our email address email@example.com.
